Use of an Individual Water Meter Per Poultry House

This practice is already widely used across Europe and has been proposed as a solution to the “water management” challenge due to its significant potential benefits. The installation of individual water meters enables precise monitoring of consumption allowing for early detection of leaks, system malfunctions, or irregular usage patterns. These capabilities support more efficient water use, reduce waste, and help improve overall flock health. Given its effectiveness in promoting sustainabilitiy and resource effectiveness in promoting sustainability and resource efficiency, this approach has gained recognition as a valuable tool in adressing environmental and economic challenges in poultry farming. The use of an individual water meter for each poulty house makes it possible to accurately calculate the daily water consumption per bird. This system not only allows for precise monitoring of the chickens’ daily water intake but also enables better control over the functionality of the system itself. Furthermore, it facilitates the early detection of anomalies such as over- or under-consumption and allows for prompt intervention in the case of water wastage due to leaks or system malfunctions.
