Indoor killing by whole-house gassing in the case of depopulation of a poultry farm.

Indoor killing through whole-house gassing is a practice used to fight against large-scale disease outbreaks in poultry farming in the case of urgent depopulation. The priority in this case of emergency is the ability to stop the spread of the pathogen. While whole-house gassing is not recommended in the case of outdoor-access poultry farming, it is one of the “preferred” method to depopulate large flocks and heavy individuals in farms.

It represents an effective method in fighting disease outbreaks such as Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza compared  to  other  methods  where  killing  is performed outdoor, since it prevents the release of contaminated dust caused by wing flapping during outdoor depopulation. GT Logistics is the official French service provider for poultry depopulation (whole-house or containarized gassing).
