Vaccination instead of anticoccidials.

Broilers can develop resistance against anticoccidials. Vaccination against coccidiosis will reduce the usage of chemotherapeutical treatments against coccidiosis. By novel techniques, vaccination may also be performed in-ovo. In the end, this method will lead to a more sustainable way of improving gut health in the chicken. In the period of change of diet, in between feeding phases, a careful monitoring of gut health is essential, as the risk of a Clostridium infection can increase temporary during this period. The cost benefit analysis yet differs from farm to farm and will be dependent on market changes. With increasing use of vaccinations against coccidiosis, the prices of the vaccines may reduce in the future. This innovation does not require additional investments other than vaccine costs and does not lead to increased labor for the farmer.
