The distribution of the animals in the barn and their behavioral activity can be used as indicators for animal well-being and health. The distribution of the animals can be used, for example, to determine whether the animals are too warm (= animals have greater distances to flock mates) or too cold (= form groups). This is especially important after the day-old chicks have arrived, since they are unable to regulate their body temperature. Bird activity can be tracked as an indicator for stress, illness, local climate changes or the general circadian rhythm of the animals. By tracking the birds automatically 24/7, early detection of problems is possible. Behavioral activity and animal distribution can be assessed without human interference through video cameras on the ceiling. VetVise developed an intensive species-specific automatic analysis using artificial intelligence. The system consists of video cameras, a local computer in the anteroom of the barn and a network connection to the company VetVise. The software sends farmers barn-specific recommendations for management measures that could improve the condition of the flock in case of anomalies.
